HISTORIC HEIGHTS
HOUSTON
This house was a special project completed in one of Houston's few protected historic districts. Built in the early 1900's and with only one family owning the home prior to our clients, the house needed a great deal of upgrading. With the help of Dillon Kyle Architects, existing rooms were reimagined and a thoughtful addition was created that honored the historicism of the house while incorporating subtle modern elements. We selected many furnishings from the homeowners' own collection of French and Swedish antiques and contemporary art, the likes of which include artists such as Helen Frankenthaler, Nicole Fein, and Xawery Wolski. Additional antiques were found to complement existing pieces, and new furnishings were introduced with an active family in mind, customizing upholstery silhouettes and using performance fabrics whenever possible. Combined with a refreshingly livable palette of dusty blues, greens, and warm neutrals, the result is both time-worn and fresh, striking a beautiful balance of old and new.
